Reuse Potential Index Calculator
The Reuse Potential Index is a tool for assessing the technical reversibility of buildings and the detachability of building parts, which quantifies the reuse potential of building parts and specifies material reuse options. This is done by analyzing the degree of interdependencies between building materials (functional, technical, and physical dependencies) based on, among other things, an analysis of the connections between materials, the degree of prefabrication and construction methods on-site, and the remaining lifespan of materials.
The Reuse Potential Index was developed according to the methodology of the model by E. Durmisevic (4D architects), which was tested during the EU project "Buildings as Material Banks" and implemented in Reversible BIM (4D architects), which is part of the EU Digital Deconstruction Platform project. Elma Durmisevic's methodology, indicators of reversible circular construction, and design guidelines have been integrated into the checklists of the Brussels Region, ISO 20887, and Levels.
